July 27th Hazard Mitigation Plan Pulbic Meeting Postponed

The public meeting on the draft revised Schenectady County Hazard Mitigation Plan that had been scheduled for July 27, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Glenville Branch of the Schenectady County Library has been postponed until early fall.  A new meeting date has not yet been selected.

Schenectady County is working with all of our local government bodies to update the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The purpose of the plan is to evaluate the probability and types of disasters likely to occur in our county and coordinate actions taken throughout the County to reduce injury, death, property damage, economic losses, and loss or damage to our natural resources.

The purpose of the public meeting will be to review the draft plan and the hazards that are most likely to impact the Town of Glenville, and to examine the draft goals, objectives and strategies that have been formulated to reduce the impacts of hazards in a cost-effective manner.

The focus of strategies is to improve our ability to deal with natural hazards such as severe storms, flooding, winter storms, and ice storms.
